French Onion Soup Rice

If you enjoy French Onion Soup, you will enjoy this too. Found this on Facebook and had to make it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
  • 1 10.5 ounce can French onion soup
  • 1 Stick unsalted butter, sliced into 12 slices

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Spray an 8 x 8 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  3. Stir together the beef broth and onion soup mix.
  4. Spread the rice in the baking dish.
  5. Pour in the beef broth mixture and the French onion soup. Gently stir.
  6. Top the rice with the sliced butter.
  7. Cover the baking dish with foil. Bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Uncover the baking dish. Bake another 30 minutes.

Notes:

  • Be sure to cover the rice with the liquid. This will help cook the rice perfectly.
  • Cover the baking dish tightly with foil for the first 30 minutes of cooking.
  • You can also top the dish with fresh cut green onions, cherry tomatoes, peas or other small veggies.
