Bacon Upside Down Cake is the perfect mix of sweet and savory—salty, crispy bacon meets gooey caramel and moist cake. Here’s a solid recipe you can try:
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces bacon chopped and fried till crispy
- 4 tbsp. melted butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups dry pancake batter mixed per package
- 2 tbsp. maple syrup optional
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Mix Pancake batter following the directions on the package.
- Cook the bacon in a skillet until it’s about 80% done—not too crispy. Set aside.
- Make the topping: In a small saucepan, melt the butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup together. Stir until combined and bubbling, about 2-3 minutes.
- Pour the topping mixture into a greased 9-inch round cake pan. Add chopped bacon over the top.
- Pour pancake batter over the bacon layer and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool in pan for 5–10 minutes, then invert onto a plate while still warm so the bacon topping comes out cleanly.
