Spritz Cookies

I have always known these as Christmas Cookies, that may be because that’s the only time they are made in this household.

Ingredients

• 1.5 cups butter (3 sticks)
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 12 teaspoons almond extract
• 4 cups sifted flour
• Colored sugar, optional

Directions

1. Thoroughly cream butter and sugar.
2. Add egg, vanilla and almond extract; beat well.
3. Add sifted dry ingredients gradually to cream mixture, mixing to a smooth dough.
4. Do not chill. Force enough through cookie press onto ungreased cookie sheet.
5. Sprinkle with colored sugar.
6. Bake in 400 degrees oven for 7-8 minutes. Then cool.
